Victim Impact Panel

(Online Version)

2 Hours

$35

Online. Self-Paced.

The Victim Impact Panel is usually (but not always) completed as a condition of probation.  If you have not yet been convicted and are taking courses either in anticipation of probation, or to build a statement of character for the courts, this course is recommended.

You may or may not be required to complete this session as a condition of your probation.  Because this course is unrelated to driver licensing, there is no online search verification tool to confirm if it is required in your particular case.  If you are unsure whether or not you need to complete this session, contact your attorney or probation officer.

The course consists of five videos of varying length. After each video presentation a few simple questions will be asked to ensure that you have paid attention to the story being shared. These questions are strictly participation questions meant to confirm that you are listening to the story. The course takes around 2 hours to complete. You may pause and come back to the class whenever you need to.

The online Victim Impact Panel Program consists of multiple stories shown through videos. All of the participants are real people telling their real stories. No one was paid and none of the presenters are actors. We ask that you show respect to their sharing of these personal stories by paying attention and listening to what they have to say.

These volunteers participate in this program in the hopes that their story will save lives and bring purpose to the 100% preventable tragic losses they have experienced.

Participation Quizzes

After each video presentation a few simple questions will be asked to assure that you paid attention to the story being shared. These questions are strictly participation questions meant to assure us that you are listening to the story and are not meant to be difficult. If you answer a participation question incorrectly you will have to re-watch the last segment of the video and again answer a participation question. The questions asked the second time will most likely be different than the ones asked the first time as they are randomly selected from a pool of participation questions about the video. This is done to make sure you are doing your part of watching and listening to the stories presented in the videos.

Taking Breaks

You do not have to complete the class in one sitting; however, it is recommended that you complete at least one full section at a time. This means watching an entire video and answering the questions that follow. From there, if you need a break or have to leave, you can log back in and pick up where you left off. If you stop in the middle of a participation quiz, it will not save your answers or progress. If you stop after submitting the questions, the course will save your spot and take you right back to where you left off.
